The BERT Fund is Queensland’s leading redundancy fund. The fund is 50% owned by QMCA and 50% by the Building Unions and delivers benefits to the Building and Construction Industry. Construction Skills Queensland

Construction Skills Queensland (CSQ) is an industry led organisation supporting employers, employees, apprentices, trainees and career seekers within Queensland’s construction industry.

As the industry prepares for a period of growth, CSQ is investing in vital training initiatives to help meet long-term skills needs.

CSQ’s focus is on retaining existing skills, up-skilling current employees and attracting new faces to ensure the future supply of skills and ongoing development of the industry.

By aligning with industry associations, government and unions, CSQ plays a vital role in building and construction skilling opportunities throughout Queensland.

CSQ helps employers to build a skilled workforce by providing funding and support to help them train new workers, develop their existing workforce and undertake Recognition for Prior Learning (RPL).

The organisation also assists employers to comply with Queensland’s 10% Training Policy, offers advice on workforce planning and provides funding support for undertaking a Training Needs Analysis.

CSQ’s programs are supported by 11 regional teams throughout Queensland who work closely alongside employers and understand the unique challenges faced by their local industry.

Construction Training Centre

CTC is the industry’s centre of excellence based in Salisbury, from where a range of public and private training providers deliver a huge range of training programs. Since its inception in 1999 the Centre has continued to grow and its Social Enterprise Programs are recognized as delivering excellence in training and employment for many of our region’s most disadvantaged groups. During the Equine Flu crisis, CTC helped maintain workers within the racing industry.  During the GFC, CTC became a major employer of apprentices to retain them in the industry.  CTC has recently become a key provider of flood recovery services for South East Queensland and is poised to assist in moving the township of Grantham.  All this has been achieved without drawing on industry funds.

With a solid and profitable track record, CTC is now embarking on the next phase of its development.  The recently completed Master Plan proposes the development of an additional 20,000 square meters of buildings constructed with the highest green credentials in mind.  Industry organizations wishing to be at the heart of an exciting new development that is underpinned by sustainable best practice should contact the Centre’s CEO Phil Diver to discuss how your requirements might be met. 

Hastings Deering

Hastings Deering is one of the top five Caterpillar dealers in the world and is a member of the Sime Darby Industrial Division which has Cat dealerships in China, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Singapore, New Caledonia, Papua New Guinea, Solomon Islands and Australia.

The safety of staff and customers remains the number one priority in Hastings Deering and the safety message continues to be embedded in the total business with significant resources devoted to continually improving performance.

The Hastings Deering territory covers 9.3 million square kilometres, covering two states (Qld & NT), four countries, three languages and five currencies. It has 22 branches and over 3,700 employees.

Hastings Deering operates in the mining, general construction, heavy construction, quarrying, governmental, waste, industrial, rental and most recently the transport segment with the introduction of the new Cat on highway truck. It also has the largest used equipment operation in Australia, supplying quality used equipment to all market segments.

Year on year growth of the business has given Hastings Deering the largest working population of earthmoving machines in the industry which has translated to a huge requirement for parts and service sales. Investment in people and facilities continues with the most recent major projects being undertaken with new facilities in Mackay, Rockhampton, Toowoomba and Townsville.

The large mining branches located in Mackay and Rockhampton have component overhaul specialist centres for engine, power train and hydraulics and between them employ over 1,000 people.

Over 85% of staff are directly engaged in customer support activities with over 600 people in field service alone.

Piling Contractors

Piling Contractors Pty Ltd works within the foundation engineering market throughout Australasia. Our emphasis is to provide solutions to civil, construction, resource and mining projects by undertaking design and construct, value engineering, alliance, ECI and construct only services.
